El EJE CAFETERO harbors forests ranging in altitude from 800 to 5.231 meters, that include valleys,paramos, lakes, rivers and cloud forests. Bird species are correspondingly diverse.

We invite you to participate in the life of coffee farmers and enjoy the beauty and calm of this place.

NATURAL HIKES

Valle de Cocora National Natural Park: This intriguing and magnificent valley es made up palms that can only be seen inf the ¨fog forests¨don´t make an appearance. This area is home to the Wax Palm Colombia´s national symbol. This palm is considered the highest palm in the world managing to reach up to 60 meteres high.

Los Nevados National Park: Glacial activity has shaped the lasndscape 3.000 metres (9.800 ft) above mean sea level, leaving U-shaped valleys and moraines behind. Extrusive igneous rock are dominant above 3.500 m (11.500) on the eastern slope and 2.200 m (7.200 ft) on the western slope. The Otun Lake, lying in extinct volcano crater, and Green Lake are located in the area. The  park ´s hydrographic networks supply water to over 2´000.000 coffee-growers in the region.        
The are is home to 1.250 species of vascular plants, 200 bryphytes, 300 lichens and 180 macroscopic fungi. On the lower slopes and in the valley teh Andean wax palms are dominant. The upper Andean forest has trees reaching up to 30 metres (98 ft) in height. Noteworthy birds include Bue-crowned Motmot, Yellow-eared Parrot, Fuertes´s Parrot, Rufous-fronted Paraleet, Andean Condor, Brown-banded Antpitta and Ruddy Duck. The bearded Genetcrest hummingbird is endemic to the region.  Noteworthy mammals include Mountain Tapir, Spectacled Bear, Northem Padú, Oncilla and Cougar, White-eared Opossum.
